We are passionate sponsors of multiple initiatives and events across several charities and non-profit organisations throughout the year. As Wenlock Spring is a dedicated hospitality brand, we back charities within – and linked to the sector. As a family business, we are also passionate about communities, families, children and education. We are especially keen to support the new generations – and to leave our planet for them in a better state that we found it.
We actively support three main charities:
Action Against Hunger
Action Against Hunger www.actionagainsthunger.org.uk
Created in 1995, Action Against Hunger support international aid programs across nearly 50 countries, by raising funds and recruiting field experts. Campaigning for change and raising awareness on child hunger is important to us, as good nutrition is the foundation for every child’s health and development. AAH works with communities before and after the disaster strikes, enabling people to provide for themselves, see their children grow up strong, and build prosperous communities. The activities that Wenlock Spring supported for Action Against Hunger in 2017 raised upwards of £1.4 million.
Hospitality Action www.hospitalityaction.org.uk
Established in 1837, Hospitality Action, the Hospitality Industry Benevolent Organisation, has offered vital assistance to all who work, or have worked within hospitality in the UK - and who find themselves in crisis. We are proud to support them as this is our industry too, their fundraising efforts are energetic, engaging – and dynamic, with amazing results.
The Springboard Charity www.springboard.uk.net
The Springboard Charity helps young people achieve their potential and nurtures unemployed people of any age into work. It helps alleviate poverty by supporting disadvantaged and underprivileged people into sustainable employment within hospitality, leisure and tourism. Springboard’s work encourages, motivates, builds confidence, develops the skills required and mentors our beneficiaries to succeed in a career within hospitality, leisure and tourism.
Across Shropshire, we support local charities by supplying water for healthy hydration at various fundraising events. Many of the events are sporting activities, perfect for our keen amateur athletes at Wenlock Spring.
Village Water are small but mighty! In 2014, they became the smallest charity to date to be selected for the Department for International Development’s UK Aid Match scheme. They raised over £287,000 to change 11,000 lives in Zambia, matched by the UK government. We have also helped Severn Hospice this year, they give specialist care and support, free of charge, to families across Shropshire and Mid Wales who are living with an incurable illness. They support families through the good and bad days because they believe ‘that when cure is no longer possible, care is’. Since 1989, they have given free care and support to more than 27,000 patients and their loved ones during their time of greatest need now helping more than 2,800 local people every year.
We also work with Crossbar coaching - an organisation that takes sports into schools, encouraging children to enjoy sport and have fun whatever their ability, and partner with Worcester Warriors Junior Rugby Camps and Warrior Community Foundation. Through the Foundation there is a larger reach than just the sports camps, they work with young people who are disengaged with mainstream education or those who have suffered trauma or who have mental health, physical or learning difficulties.
Crossbar Coaching - Education In Sport www.crossbarcoaching.com
Since 2008 Crossbar Coaching - Education In Sport, has been using sport as a tool to aid the all-round development of children and young adults from 4-19 years old. Crossbar specialise in delivering PE & School Sport provision across the national curriculum. Their Sport Educators and Sport Apprentices, provide a fun, safe, educational and all-inclusive environment for learners to 'be the best that they can be', whilst learning 'life skills' such as attitude, teamwork, confidence, health and social issues and more. We believe the world of PE & school sport is important to raise aspirations and performance of students. It has been proven to have physical and mental health benefits too.
