CoolerTron Droid H-20

A Back Story …

In the year 2172, climate collapse had rendered large portions of Earth’s surface uninhabitable. Water was no longer just a resource—it was currency, power, and salvation. Megacities were encased in climate domes, and outside those domes, survival was a daily gamble.

In the ruins of Old South Shrosphire, where dust storms buried farm buildings, houses and retirement homes and acid rain carved through concrete, an underground collective known as the Wasteland Tinkerers scavenged the remains of civilisation. Among them was an eccentric inventor named Bruce Orme, a former Water Cooler entrepreneur and collector of military vehicles.

Orme had a dream – to create a new kind of droid — not one of war or wealth, but one built entirely from the forgotten detritus of his past. One that could search, gather, and redistribute water to those too poor or too sick to earn their daily ration from the domes. A Droid created from Water Coolers, from the contents of his shed. He would be called Coolertron Droid H-20 and he would save the world!

So how does Coolerton Droid H-20 find himself in Shropshire in 2025? Did it involve time travel? A parallel Universe?

No.

He’s not really from the year 2172.

He was bought to life by local artist Luke Kite, bringing together Bruce Orme’s idea of using repurposed water cooler components – including cases, lids, drip trays and cup dispensers.

It has been created to challenge how we think about waste, inspire conversation around recycling, and show what’s possible when sustainability is at the heart of design.

From our recyclable packaging to our circular supply chain, we’re proud to lead the way in sustainability – and CoolerTron is a powerful, physical symbol of that mission.

He’s already visited RAF Cosford Air show, Shrewsbury Food Festival and had a residency at Battlefield 1403. Look out for him next at Shropshire Petal Fields and other events this Summer!
